Description
There is no simpler model of rocket stability than CSC Toys' Stability Rocket. The simple paper and string model demonstrates how placement of mass in a rocket (a paperclip) impacts flight stability. For a stable flight, clip the paper clip near the nose of the rocket and spin the rocket around on the string. Center of gravity (CG) is well ahead of the center of pressure (CP), so the rocket is stable. But move the paperclip back toward the fins, and your CG is no longer ahead of the CP, and your flight stability suffers. Next, try spinning an unstable configuration faster. What happens? It's a fast, easy, and obvious way to study the relationship between CG and CP and their impact on flight stability.
Comes as a kit, with some assembly required, using the included instructions. Scissors and tape are required, and not included. Suitable for ages as young as kindergarten, with some supervision.
